The Head of Procurement leads and continuously improves Sisk Group’s procurement operations across all business units and geographies.

The role is accountable for the strategic and operational management of the procurement of materials, products, manufactured systems, goods, and services required to deliver Sisk projects.

The position provides leadership for:

  • The Purchasing teams in Ireland and the UK, and
  • The Category Management team, focused on the direct procurement of high‑value and critical construction materials and products that form part of the permanent works.

The Head of Procurement operates at both a strategic and operational level, partnering with senior management and Directors to maximise group leverage, ensure supply continuity, manage risk, and drive consistency across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.

Responsibilities

In Scope – Head of Procurement

Full accountability for procurement strategy, governance, and execution relating to:

  • Construction and building materials and products
  • Manufactured building systems and components incorporated into the works
  • High‑value, critical, and long‑lead materials
  • Preferred supplier and framework agreements for materials and products
  • Indirect goods and services where appropriate
  • Supplier performance, commercial governance, and risk management for the above

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  1. Group Procurement Leadership (Materials & Products)
  • Define and deliver a group procurement strategy for materials, products, and services.
  • Drive consistent procurement practices across business units and regions.
  • Champion a best‑value approach considering cost, quality, programme certainty, supply risk, and sustainability.
  1. Category Management – High‑Value Materials & Systems
  • Lead category strategies for critical materials, products, and building systems, including sourcing, supplier selection, and resilience planning.
  • Oversee structured procurement exercises, negotiations, and contract awards for in‑scope categories.
  • Drive standardisation and demand aggregation where appropriate to maximise group leverage.
  1. Operational Procurement Delivery
  • Lead procurement teams to deliver effective materials and product procurement support to pre‑construction and live projects.
  • Ensure timely, compliant, and commercially robust procurement execution.
  • Act as senior escalation point for supplier and material performance issues impacting delivery.
  1. Supplier Strategy & Performance
  • Develop and manage group‑wide preferred supplier strategies for materials and products.
  • Implement supplier performance management focused on quality, delivery, safety, sustainability and commercial compliance.
  • Build strategic relationships with key manufacturers and suppliers critical to Sisk’s delivery capability.
  1. Governance, Compliance & Risk
  • Ensure all in‑scope procurement activity complies with group procurement and P2P policies and approval thresholds.
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure robust contracting and governance for high‑value procurement.
  • Embed responsible, ethical, and sustainable procurement principles across the materials supply chain.
  1. Senior Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a senior procurement advisor to Managing Directors, Project Directors, Commercial and Pre-Construction leadership on materials and products procurement strategy.
  • Work with our Supply Chain Insights team to provide insight on market conditions, inflationary pressures, capacity constraints, and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain clear alignment—without duplication—with Commercial and Plant leadership.
  1. Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement systems, buying channels, and data quality for in‑scope spend.
  • Use data to reduce maverick buying, improve compliance, and enhance decision‑making.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop high‑performing procurement and category management teams across the Group.
  • Build capability, succession, and technical depth in materials and product procurement disciplines.
  • Foster a collaborative, performance‑driven, and values‑based culture.

Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in the construction industry with senior responsibility across supply chain, procurement, and/or commercial functions (including candidates with a quantity surveying background).
  • Deep understanding of construction materials, building systems, and manufacturing supply chains, and how these interface with commercial delivery and project controls.
  • Strong knowledge of contract/commercial principles and cost management within a construction environment.
  • Proven ability to operate at senior leadership level and influence across the business.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management capability.

Qualifications

  • CIPS or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Degree/professional qualification in Business/Commerce, Finance, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience operating across Ireland, the UK, and/or mainland Europe.
